Mace

Description/Blazon
The dome of the mace suggests stars and stripes, which refer to the National flag of Liberia, where the band was first activated and to the Adjutant General Corps with which all bands are associated.  The large star of the thirteen stars on the dome symbolizes the State of Pennsylvania, the home state of the band.  The distinctive unit insignia of the First United States Army is displayed on the lower portion of the mace representing the home area of the unit.  The laurel leaf rings symbolize achievement.
